[1][olds] Thus have I heard:

Once the Exalted One was dwelling near Sāvatthī,
at Jeta Grove,
in Anāthapiṇḍika's Park.

There the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

"Yes, lord," they replied, and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, with six things endowed,
a monk may cleave the mountain-king, Himalaya,
but who shall say it of rude ignorance?

What six?

Herein,^[1] monks, a monk is skilled in the attainment of concentration,
skilled in maintaining concentration,
skilled in emerging from concentration,
skilled in the weal^[2] of concentration,
skilled in the range of concentration,
skilled in the resolve for concentration.

Verily, monks, with these six things endowed,
a monk pay cleave the mountain-king Himalaya,
but who shall say it of rude^[3] ignorance?'
