VIII. Arahatta Vagga
The Book of the Gradual Sayings
The Book of the Sixes
Chapter VIII: Arahantship
Translated from the Pali by E.M. Hare.
 Thus have I heard:
Once the Exalted One was dwelling near Sāvatthī,
at Jeta Grove,
in Anāthapiṇḍika's Park.
There the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:
"Yes, lord," they replied,
and the Exalted One said:
"Monks, endowed with six things
a monk shall in no long time
win to greatness and growth
in right things.
Herein, monks, a monk has clear sight in much,
application in much,
zest in much,
dissatisfaction in much,
shirks not the burden of right things,
and drives across to the beyond.
Verily, monks, endowed with these six,
a monk shall win to greatness and growth
in right things
in no long time.'
Unique (?) With modern computers and search tools we can confirm that this is unique to this sutta.
Uttariɱ patāreti, a striking and unique (?) phrase.
