Ekaṃ samayaṃ Bhagavā Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati.|| ||

Tatra kho Bhagavā bhikkhu āmantesi:|| ||

"Bhikkhavo" ti.|| ||

"Bhadante" ti te bhikkhū Bhagavato paccassosuṃ.|| ||

Bhagavā etad avoca:|| ||

2. Pañcame bhikkhave puggalā santo saṃvijj'amānā lokasmiṃ.|| ||

Katame pañca?|| ||

Datvā avajānāti,||
saṇvāsena avajānāti,||
ādiyyamukho hoti,||
lolo hoti,||
mando momūho hoti.|| ||

3. Kathañ ca bhikkhave puggalo datvā avajānāti?|| ||

Idha, bhikkhave, puggalo puggalassa deti cīvara-piṇḍa-pāta-sen'āsana-gilāna-paccaya-bhesajja-parikkhāraṃ.|| ||

Tassa evaṃ hoti:|| ||

'Ahaṃ demi, ayaṃ patigaṇhātī' ti.|| ||

Tam enaṃ datvā avajānāti.|| ||

Evaṃ kho bhikkhave puggalo datvā avajānāti.|| ||

4. Kathañ ca bhikkhave puggalo saṇvāsena avajānāti?|| ||

[165] Idha bhikkhave puggalo puggalena saddhiṃ saṃvasati dve vā tiṇi vā vassāni.|| ||

Tam enaṃ saṇvāsena avajānāti.|| ||

Evaṃ kho bhikkhave puggalo saṇvāsena avajānāti.|| ||

5. Kathañ ca bhikkhave puggalo ādiya-mukho hoti?|| ||

Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo parassa vaṇeṇe vā avaṇeṇa vā bhāsiyamāne taṃ khippaṃ yeva adhimuccitā hoti.|| ||

Evaṃ kho bhikkhave puggalo ādiya-mukho hoti.|| ||

6. Kathañ ca bhikkhave puggalo lolo hoti?|| ||

Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo ittara-saddho hoti,||
ittara-bhatti,||
ittara-pemo,||
ittarappasādo.|| ||

Evaṃ kho bhikkhave puggalo lolo hoti.|| ||

7. Kathañ ca bhikkhave puggalo mando momūho hoti?|| ||

Idha bhikkhave ekacco puggalo kusalākusale dhamme na jānāti,||
sāvajjānavajje dhamme na jānāti,||
hīnappaṇite dhamme na jānāni,||
kaṇha-sukka-sappaṭi-bhāge dhamme na jānāti.|| ||

Evaṃ kho bhikkhave puggalo mando momūho hoti.|| ||

Ime kho bhikkhave pañca puggalā santo saṃvijj'amānā lokasmin" ti.|| ||
