[1] THUS have I heard:

Once the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

"Yes, lord," they replied, and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, these ten states,
utterly pure and clear,
are not
save in the discipline of the Wayfarer.

What ten?

Right view,
right thinking,
right speech,
right action,
right living,
right effort,
right mindfulness,
right concentration,
right knowledge,
right release.

'These are the ten states,
utterly pure and clear,
that are not
save in the discipline of the Wayfarer.
