Upāsaka Vipatti Suttaɱ

Sāvatthi nidānaɱ|| ||

Satt'ime bhikkhave, dhammā upāsakassa vipattiyo saŋvattanti.|| ||

Katame satta?|| ||

2. Bhikkhu dassanaɱ hāpeti.|| ||

Sad'Dhamma-savaṇaɱ pamajjati.|| ||

Adisīle na sikkhati.|| ||

A-p-pasāda-bahulo hoti bhikkhūsu theresu c'eva||
navesu ca||
majjhamesu ca.|| ||

Upārambha-citto Dhammaɱ suṇāti randha-gavesī.|| ||

Ito ca bahiddhā dakkhiṇeyyaɱ gavesati.|| ||

Idha ca pubba-kāraɱ karoti.|| ||

Ime kho bhikkhave, satta dhammā upāsakassa vipattiyo saŋvattanti.|| ||

Satt'imi bhikkhave, dhammā upāsakassa sampattiyo saŋvattanti.|| ||

Katame satta?|| ||

Bhikkhu-dassanaɱ na hāpeti.|| ||

Sad'Dhamma-savaṇaɱ na p-pamajjati.|| ||

Adhisīle sikkhati.|| ||

Pasāda-bahulo hoti bhikkhūsu theresu c'eva||
navesu ca||
majjhamesu ca.|| ||

Anupārambha-citto Dhammaɱ suṇāti na randha-gavesī.|| ||

Na ito bahiddhā dakkhiṇeyyaɱ gavesati.|| ||

Idha ca pubba-kāraɱ karoti.|| ||

Ime kho bhikkhave, satta dhammā upāsakassa sampattiyo saŋvattantī ti.|| ||

Dassanaɱ bhāvit'attānaɱ yo hāpeti upāsako,||
Savaṇaɱ ca ariya-Dhammānaɱ adisile na sikkhati.|| ||

Appasādo ca bhikkhūsu bhiyyo bhiyyo pavaḍḍhati,||
Upārambha-citto ca Sad'Dhammaɱ sotumicchati.|| ||

Ito ca bhahiddhā aññaɱ dakkhiṇeyyaɱ gavesati,||
Tatth'eva ca pubba-kāraɱ yo karoti upāsako,|| ||

Ete kho parihānīye satta dhamme sudesite,||
Upāsako seva-māno Sad'Dhammā parihāyati.|| ||

Dassanaɱ bhāvit'attānaɱ yo na hāpeti upāsako,||
Savaṇaɱ ca ariya-Dhammānaɱ adhisīle ca sikkhati.|| ||

Pasādo c'assa bhikkhūsu bhiyyo bhiyyo pavaḍḍhati,||
Anupārambha-citto ca Sad'Dhammaɱ sotumicchati.|| ||

Na ito bahiddhā aññaɱ dakkhiṇeyyaɱ gavesati,||
Idh'eva ca pubba-kāraɱ yo karoti upāsako.|| ||

Ete ko aparihānīye satta dhamme sudesite,||
Upāsako seva-māno Sad'Dhammā na parihāyatī ti.|| ||

[ed1] It is possible that the missing 3rd sutta here is indicated by the discrepancy in versions pointed out by Hardy where in S. the second sutta begins with 'asambhavā' rather than the text's parābhavā. The alternative may have been 'sambhava' and 'asambhava': rebirth and no rebirth.
