[256]

[1] Thus have I heard:

On a certain occasion the Exalted One was staying near Sāvatthī.

Then the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

"Yes, lord," they replied, and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, there are these four powers.

What four?

The power of energy,
the power of mindfulness,
that of concentration
and the power of wisdom.

These are the four powers.

[1] Cf. K.S. v, 223, with faith as the first.
